Frank Cowan starts an insurance agency business from the family farmhouse in Princeton, Ontario.
1960s
The Guarantee Company (GCNA), an insurance company, is acquired. Princeton Holdings Ltd is formed as a holding company.
1994
Following Frank Cowan's death, Maureen Cowan is appointed Chairman.
2003
GCNA USA is formed.
2020
COVID Lockdown begins. CIG reacts to a new operating model focusing on servicing clients remotely while keeping employees safe.
2027

Frank Cowan Company (FCC) focuses on
serving municipalities in Ontario as an MGA.
1984
Maureen Cowan, Frank’s granddaughter, joins the business.
2000s to 2019
CIG is formed and acquires several companies to create a broader P&C brokerage and Group Benefits Consulting Business.
2019
Decision is made to sell GCNA and FCC to Intact.

CIG evolves its operating
